Newton-Heath-Health-Centre-Saved

Residents with the support of campaigning local councillor John Flanagan took on the health authority to stop the doctor's surgery closing .


The people of Newton Heath came out and supported the campaign. Councillor John Flanagan said "Newton Heath came out and fought to save the Health Centre .I  thanks every one who got involved. Without local support I think the health authorities would have got their way".
 
Over a thousand people signed the petition in the last weeks.

Cllr John Flanagan said "People power really does work. This is fantastic news for the residents of Newton Heath".

The health authorities have had a rethink about moving services from Newton Heath Health Centre the doctors will stay at the Centre.

Cath Hope, Chair of Queensferry Tenants and Residents Association said "This is great news, I couldn't believe it when they suggested moving in the first place that's why I went around my area with the petition".

Pamela Finnan Health Food Shop, Old Church Street said "I didn't think we would win. I know how important this news is for local shops and businesses on Old Church Street".

Jane and Lez Chadfield, officers of C-Star Tenants and Residents Association said "Brilliant thanks to all those who signed our petition and thanks to Cllr John Flanagan taking up this fight".


Cllr June Hitchen said " I am pleased that so many people  have come out to back the campaign to save the heath centre .We want to make sure that there is not last minute change of mind and that's why we are asking you to sign the coupon below to keep up the pressure  We awaiting official conformation and a guarantee that no other services will be moved from the centre.
