Lib Dems finance plans will hit hard working families in Manchester

The Lib Dem in Manchester aim to inflict savage cuts to front line council services, hike  council taxes  for years to come and sack over 300 staff.  Lib Dems finance package will hit hard working families in Manchester.

At the Council’s Resources and Governance Scrutiny Committee Labour Councillors were amazed to hear the Lib Dem leadership put forward a budget amendment that would inflict hardship and cut jobs at this time .

The Lib Dems favoured giving council tax hand outs to private landlords across the City and then force up private sector rents as a way of bringing in extra cash to the council.

The mean spirited proposal also cancelled Manchester Day – a special day when Manchester communities proudly celebrates their achievements in our City

Councillor Bernard Priest said, “The Lib Dems budget is a  road to ruin. Manchester people will in the end have to pay dearly for what the Lib Dems have in mind   - council taxes will rise, service will be cut and people will lose their jobs.  We simply cannot afford the Lib Dems in Manchester”.

Labour members at the Scrutiny Committee rejected the Lib Dems “unaffordable and undesirable” proposals.
